Cacao has been understood as something sacred long before it became something sweet. Across Mesoamerica, West Africa, and the Caribbean, the cacao plant was used not just as food but as medicine — applied to skin, worked into preparations, trusted for its richness and its ability to restore. Cocoa & Cream begins there, with that understanding. 

This is a bar built for skin that wants deep, unhurried nourishment. Shea butter and olive oil bring lasting moisture that settles into skin rather than sitting on top of it. Coconut milk, used in place of water, contributes natural fatty acids and a creaminess to the lather that makes this bar feel genuinely generous — the kind that slows a shower into something worth taking. 

Cocoa powder brings the bar its deep, warm tone and its quiet skin benefits — antioxidants and fatty acids that have been trusted in topical preparations for centuries. Poppy seeds provide a gentle, natural exfoliation — not aggressive, just present enough to polish. Titanium dioxide gives the cream-toned portion of the bar its clean, warm contrast. Benzoin resinoid, a natural resin used for centuries in perfumery and traditional medicine, anchors the fragrance and brings a quiet, skin-soothing depth of its own.

Key Ingredients

Cocoa Powder: Derived from the cacao tree — native to the tropical Americas and central to Mesoamerican, West African, and Caribbean cultures for thousands of years — cocoa powder brings more than color to this bar. Rich in theobromine, polyphenols, and natural fatty acids, it has been used in topical preparations across traditions for its antioxidant and skin-softening properties. The warm, deep tone of this bar is cocoa itself. Nothing added, nothing artificial. 

Coconut Milk: Used here in place of water, coconut milk brings lauric acid, natural vitamins, and a richness to the lather that plain water simply cannot provide. Used for centuries across South and Southeast Asia in beauty rituals, hair care, and skin preparations, it is one of the most skin-compatible liquids available for soap-making. The creaminess you feel in the lather begins here. 

Benzoin Resinoid: A natural resin harvested from the Styrax tree, used for centuries in perfumery, traditional medicine, and religious ritual across Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In skincare it is gently soothing and anti-inflammatory. In fragrance it acts as a fixative — slowing the release of the other scent notes and adding a warm, balsamic depth that gives Cocoa & Cream its staying power. The reason this scent lingers the way it does. 

Poppy Seed: Tiny, uniform, and gentle — poppy seeds offer the lightest possible exfoliation within a bar soap. They polish rather than scrub, lifting dull surface cells without micro-tears or irritation. Their presence is subtle and purposeful: skin that feels noticeably smoother without ever feeling like it has been worked over. 

Titanium Dioxide: A naturally occurring mineral used here to create the clean, cream-toned contrast in the bar's design. No synthetic dyes. No artificial pigments. The pale tone you see alongside the deep cocoa is titanium dioxide — a mineral, used honestly. 

Scent Profile

Top Notes: Chocolate and hot chocolate — rich, dark, and immediately enveloping. An opening that arrives fully formed. 

Middle Notes: Honey and vanilla — warm, golden, slightly floral. The scent at its most comforting and skin-close. 

Base Notes: Marshmallow and cream — soft, sweet, and slow to leave. The note that lingers long after the rinse.

How to Use

  • Wet skin and bar with warm water. 
  • Lather between hands or directly on skin — the bar will produce a rich, creamy foam with the warmth of cocoa and cream. 
  • Massage gently into face or body. The poppy seeds will provide a light polish — let them work without pressure. 
  • Rinse thoroughly with warm water. 
  • Follow with your Crystal Beaute Co. body oil or butter to seal in moisture while skin is still slightly damp. 

For best results: Store your bar on a draining soap dish between uses. A dry bar lasts longer — and a long-lasting bar is a worthy one.
