Indigo is one of the oldest botanical dyes known to humanity — carried along trade routes from South Asia to West Africa, from the Mediterranean to the Americas, leaving its deep, distinctive mark on textiles, art, and culture for over five thousand years. That the same plant also holds a quiet history in skin and hair care is less widely known. It is known here.
This is a bar built around contrast — the green of natural indigo powder against the warmth and richness of what surrounds it. Cocoa butter and shea butter bring deep, lasting nourishment — the kind that settles into skin rather than sitting on top of it. Olive oil and sunflower oil keep the formula balanced, light where it needs to be, generous where it should. Aloe vera juice, used in place of water, calms and conditions from the very first step.
Kaolin clay draws out surface impurities with the gentleness this formula earns — nothing aggressive, nothing that compromises. Sodium lactate ensures the bar cures hard and lasts. And indigo powder, the ingredient that names this bar, because it is entirely botanical and entirely its own.

Rich in stearic and oleic acids, it forms a protective layer that seals in moisture and softens skin over time. Its use in skincare stretches back centuries across West Africa and the Caribbean — long before it appeared in commercial formulations. Here it provides the depth and staying power the formula requires.
Aloe Vera Juice: Used here in place of water, aloe vera juice brings anti-inflammatory, hydrating, and skin-conditioning properties into the bar from the very first step of the process. How to Use
How to Use
- Wet skin and bar with warm water.
- Lather between hands or directly on skin — the bar will produce a rich, creamy foam with the bright lift of sweet orange throughout.
- Massage gently into face or body. Let the clay and aloe do their work — no rush.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
- Follow with your Crystal Beaute Co. body oil or butter to seal in moisture while skin is still slightly damp.
For best results: Store your bar on a draining soap dish between uses. A dry bar lasts longer — and a long-lasting bar is a worthy one.
